Working groups

To achieve the objectives of the project, EULID is structured in 4 Working Groups (WG):


WG1
Legislation and ethical concerns regading living donation

Leader: Hospital Santo Antonio; Transplantation Department (Portugal)
Associated partners: Polish Transplant Coordinating Center (Poland); Paraskevaidion Surgical and Transplant Center (Cyprus); Hôpital Necker. Service de Transplantation Rénale Adulte (France)

The main objective is to analyze and compare the different European countries legal and ethical frameworks on living donor’s health and safety in order to establish European legal and ethical recommendations.

WG2
Protection of the living donor in European countries

Leader: University Riskshospitalet-Radiumhospitalet (Norway)
Associated partners: ISS-Centro Nazionali Trapianti (Italy); Institute for transplantation of organs and tissue of Slovenia (Slovenia); Sahlgresnka University Hospital.- (Sweden)

The main objectives of this working group are: Determine the potential risks for the living donor; analyze if there are specific legislated or non legislated systems or practices concerning protection; develop and write an informative leaflet directed to the general public; and, make a survey on living donor’s satisfaction in the project European country partners.

WG3
Registry

Leader: NHS Blood and transplant.- NHS Trasnplant Data Services (United Kingdom)
Associated partners: National Agency of Transplantation (Romania); IL3 (Spain)

The main objective is to establish and validate an e-registry database model on organ living donors data that allows having a common European database registry and common national registries on the issue. It is expected that this group creates the database proposed and to make a pilot data collection with the participation of the participating countries.

WG4
Coordination

Leader: Hospital Clínic of Barcelona (Spain)

The main objective is to develop final recommendations that guarantee health and safety of the living donor. The coordinator center will ensure the organization and evolution of communication platforms, meetings, working plans, deadlines and reports.
